Director: Alan Parker
The main character Pink’s being oppressed by his overprotective mother, and by tyrannical teachers becomes metaphoric "bricks in the wall". He becomes a rock star but infidelity, drug use, and outbursts of violence make the wall of alienation seem impregnable. Pink's crisis reaches its culmination in a hallucinatory on-stage performance where he identifies himself with a fascist dictator. Conscience, his inner judge, orders him to "tear down the wall”... The film contains fifteen minutes of elaborate animation sequences by the political cartoonist and illustrator Gerald Scarfe.
