California, 1850, a young Chilean gold digger’s wife is raped and killed by ‘gringos’. To take the vengeance for her death he becomes a bandit. One day, when he comes to put flowers on her grave, he is killed by his enemies. His dead body is decapitated and the head is put on display at a show booth. His mates steal the head to burry it... The Star and the Death of Joaquin Murieta was the first rock-opera in the USSR to follow “full cycle” of realization – first as an LP album, then as a stage performance and finally as a movie.
