Director: Ken Russell
Screen version of The Who’s 1969 album Tommy (the first musical work to be billed as a rock opera) tells the story of deaf, dumb and blind boy who becomes a star of pinball. But his fans begin to commercialize his fame. When Tommy tries to protest, his supporters turn on him. Besides the members of The Who, there are some other great names in the film such as Ann-Margret, Elton John, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Jack Nicholson. Tommy was one of the first music films released with a multichannel hi-fi soundtrack.
