The story begins with Alexander, popular director, seeing a vintage photo in a French magazine, and he is astounded to recognize his own grandfather there. The inconsistency is that the photo was taken in 1948 in colonial Cambodia, and his grandfather died during World War II, as the character knew. Then it turns out that there have been some inherited values waiting for Alexander for many years.
