Director: Yoon-Ki Lee
Born in Korea in 1965, LEE Yoon-ki is one of Korea’s most critically acclaimed film directors. Although his University background was Business Administration, graduating from California’s USC, upon his return to Korea, he started his film career by producing and/or directing a number of awarding winning short films. In 1994, he wrote and directed his first feature film, THIS CHARMING GIRL, which attended numerous film festivals including Berlin and Sundance, garnered him critical acclaim and immediately marked him as someone to watch. He was also awarded the NETPAC Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and the New Currents Award at the Pusan International Film Festival for the film. The next year, he directed LOVE TALK which was selected for official competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Following LOVE TALK, he directed AD LIB NIGHT which was selected for Berlin’s Forum and for official competition at the Deauville Asian Film Festival. In 2008, he directed MY DEAR ENEMY which was also selected for Forum at Berlin and for the Tribeca Film Festival. COME RAIN, COME SHINE is his fifth feature and has been selected for competition at 2011 Berlin International Film Festival.
While driving to the airport one day, a young woman tells her husband that she wants to leave him for another man. The husband responds with muted acknowledgement and drives on. On the day she is to move out, a massive storm strikes seemingly stranding her and forcing them to spend another day together. A lot can happen in one day, as their soon to be new reality sinks in.
